In no Miko (院の御子)
IN no Miko (1165 - ?) was a person who appeared in a literature, "Gyokuyo" in the end of the Heian period.
Career
According to the article of "Gyokuyo," this person first called himself a child of FUJIWARA no Narichika, In no Kinshin (the retired Emperor's courtier). In 1183, he started to call himself an illegitimate child of the retired emperor Goshirakawa whose mother was the daughter of FUJIWARA no Suketaka.
He was in Kyoto, and was brought up by Kujoin (the Empress of the Emperor Konoe) during the early years of his life. When Kujoin passed away in July in 1176, he was moved to the residence of his maternal grandfather, FUJIWARA no Suketaka, and was brought up there. At the age of fifteen, he ran away from his grandfather's place, and moved from place to place after staying in the Province of Yamato. First, he went to the Daisen-ji Temple in Aseri County, Hoki Province, and then moved to the Sanbutsu-ji Temple in Mt.Mitoku, Kawamura County, Hoki Province. Around 1183, he started the anti-Taira clan campaign in Hoki Province, and won the force of samurai group led by KI no Narimori over to his side, placing the half of Hoki Province and a part of Mimasaka Province under his control. "Gyokuyo" stated that this person sent an emissary to Kyoto, and he received the order to search and kill Taira clan from the retired emperor Goshirakawa.
